Visiting the National WW2 Museum in New Orleans this summer was such an incredible experience. I think I learned more about World War II in my short time there than I have in all my years of history classes combined. The way the museum incorporated interactives, personal accounts, and the smallest details made such an impact on me. I think sometimes it’s so easy to just let history become distant and unrelated to our lives today, but this piece of history wasn’t even that long ago! And realizing how different this world would be if the U.S. didn’t win the war (and that it was against all odds that we even did) made me so thankful for this country and the overwhelming amount of people who gave their entire lives to defend it. Not to get all sappily patriotic and “MURICA” on you guys, but I know for me personally, I needed that experience to actually comprehend and understand what our country went through in order to be considerably more grateful for it now. Yes, our country may be in some messes these days, but if you think about how far we’ve come and how amazing this place is compared to other parts of the world, we really have zero to complain about and thousands to be thankful about. Basically y’all, hug a soldier! And God bless America. *End rant | See pics*
