My brother Cale proposed to his beautiful lady Kristen a few weeks ago, and it was basically the best day ever. This event has been a long time coming, but between his rotations, Kristen’s new job and city, and the exhausting search efforts of finding the ring, THE DAY FINALLY ARRIVED. It was so fun to help Cale with pulling this whole she-bang off (which you’ll see below was quite the she-bang). He is so creative, thoughtful, and crafty. He *made* her ring box, he carved all the pumpkins that popped the question, and had two stuffed backpacks filled with decor and pictures and batteries (it looked like he robbed a Hobby Lobby) for me and Stevie to propose-ify the spot at Denny Cove. Stevie and I almost died making the trek with 6 pumpkins, 2 cameras, and a Hobby Lobby aisle, but I promise you it was worth all the soreness we endured the next day.
We got to the waterfall on that Saturday afternoon, set everything up, and hid to wait for them to make their grand entrance over the hill. It was pure gold seeing the look on Kristen’s face as they approached the waterfall. First confusion, then shock, then excitement. It really was so amazing and so *them*. Stevie and I kept our composure as best we could while the actual “will you marry me” took place. Afterwards though, it was all yelling and yaying. We hiked the 1.6 miles back with flashlights and pumpkins, swapping stories of how the day unfolded for each of us, and then we met up with the rest of the family for dinner. We were honored to be there every 3.2 miles of the way and can not wait to watch them say “I do” real soon!
